CBD and Fibromyalgia

What is fibromyalgia?

The hallmark sign of fibromyalgia is muscle pain throughout the body without an apparent reason. And may be coupled with extreme fatigue, tenderness at pressure points on the body, sleep challenges and anxiety or depression.

Medications targeting pain and insomnia have shown to help but patients often complain of a mental ‘fog’ that is difficult to treat. Discovering the cause of fibromyalgia is as unique as every individual. There are a few triggers clients have in common such as:

Stress– although you can’t completely eliminate stress from your life, you can limit it by adjusting your expectations and learning to say ‘No’ to excess situations.

Extreme weather changes- Being too cold or too hot can trigger flare-ups. Managing the weather can be nearly impossible but limiting your exposure to extremes is a better solution.

Exercise (too much or too little) – Not understanding your limits or simply giving into the pain and not exercising can also activate the disease.

Foods – there are studies that link food allergies to fibromyalgia that when eliminated greatly lessen the pain.

In years past, there were not tests, no x-rays, nothing definitive to diagnosis a case of fibromyalgia. Generally, it was determined by symptoms, which are often imitators of other diseases. But today, fibromyalgia is better recognized. Although treatments are wide and varied there are some self-treatments that may help;

  • Massage: Gentle massage for a shorter length of time, 20-25 minutes seems to inspire the nerves to calm down.
  • Exercise 1-3 times a week, without overdoing it, is another means of managing the symptoms.
  • Sleep aids, such as turning off electrical stimulus like phones, computers, TV and dimming the lights and lowering the room temperature an hour before bed may help to signal the body to a deeper sleep pattern.
  • Mind Games: playing games that keep the brain active during the daytime hours is a great way to beat the fibro fog.

Studies by the department of health suggest that fibromyalgia may be caused by Clinical endocannabinoid deficiency. In our past articles we talked about how the body is made up of endocannabinoids, and often our life styles, our age, and environmental factors deplete these natural endocannabinoids.

Migraine, fibromyalgia, IBS and related conditions display common clinical, biochemical and pathophysiological patterns that suggest an underlying clinical endocannabinoid deficiency that may be suitably treated with cannabinoid medicines.”*

The good news is hemp contains its own cannabinoids. This is the part of the plant that keeps its immune system strong and wards off pests and disease. Hemp is the plant that does not contain THC (the hallucinogenic) that marijuana does but DOES house the rich receptors for cannabinoids (CBD). Studies show CBD helps to reduce inflammation, thus reducing pain. And when the body is not in a fight or flight posture, it relaxes– reducing anxiety and insomnia.

The challenge is finding quality CBD and receiving the mg you are purchasing. Hemp grown organically presents the purest means of nurturing the body. At Optimal Living, we only supply you with the highest quality organically grown CBD from seed to product (without the THC).

We have great results with our fibromyalgia clients who use our CBD products such as:

Capsules, Pain Cream, Tinctures and Bath Salts.

Take a look at us, www.OptToLive.com/shop see what you think and feel free to ask questions regarding your particular challenge. We’re happy to make suggestions.

*Just a reminder, we’re not doctors, we’re eager to find healthy alternatives to allowing the body to heal itself. You are a unique individual, do your research, include your doctor, and find what works for you.

Some clients have found that 50 mg CBD capsules works for them. After an initial period  (90 days) they were able to drop down to 15-25 mg daily and were able to start sleeping and exercising which also improved their situation. Other clients say they need 25 mg daily, with the pain cream on specific spots works best for them. And almost all of them say their treatments along with CBD Foaming Bath salts helps the overall ache and improves sleep when they soak before bedtime.

Take a look at our products designed for some sample trials, before you spend the money on large supplies. They are producing excellent results from clients with pain issues such as fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue.
